VOCAL AUDITION NOTICE

BACE Productions & Bacement Foundation for the Arts are looking for Classic R&B/Soul singers with strong vocal technique and stage presence for a 3-day soul music revue at Miller Outdoor Theatre, taking place May 22nd-24th over Memorial Day weekend. Rehearsals begin March 25th and will be held on Tuesdays and Saturdays, with select additional dates in May. See the full production schedule below for more details.

Audition Requirements

Prepare a dynamic classic R&B/Soul song that best showcases your vocal range and performance abilities. You may perform with a backing track or a cappella. Bluetooth speakers will be available for those using backing tracks. Auditions will begin with a solo round. Please ensure your selection is era-appropriate to fit the show’s theme. Dancin’ in the Street primarily covers r&b/soul and funk from the 60s and 70s, along with some classics from the 80s and 90s.

Please note: Stage presence and the ability to engage and move the audience are just as important as vocal ability. Artists selected by show producers will be invited to the second round of vocal auditions, on the evening of Tuesday, February 25th.

Preparation:
If you are invited to the second round, you will be required to know the lyrics to an assigned solo number, as well as the group selections below :

• Men: “For the Love of Money” – The O’Jays
• Women: “Giving Him Something He Can Feel” – En Vogue
• Both: “You’re All I Need to Get By” – Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell

During callbacks, you will be asked to perform group vocal arrangements and choreography. Personal song assignment, to come with callback invitation.
